Day 65 - Redstone Of Kenwood by AE Stagge

I like the look of this building. More class A office space in Kenwood. The building conceals a large parking garage which sits behind it. One hundred and sixty thousand square feet of office space, and it is virtually full.

Day 64 - Slow Progress by AE Stagge

Or so it seems from here. There is some new metal up top and I see the framework for windows going in.

Search "Kenwood Collection" in the box to the right to see the previous posts about this complex.

Day 63 - Night Time (Lapse) by AE Stagge

There are many, many things to see near this intersection. We only saw a handful this week, but there will be more in the months ahead. So to close out the week, here is a different look at the corner of Kenwood and Montgomery.

Day 62 - Bank On It by AE Stagge

The Jos A. Bank Center is another building near the intersection that has been around a long time. Home, of course, to the JoS. A. Bank Clothiers, and also the popular Trio Bistro.

Personal flashback - As a child, my dentist was on the second floor of this (then called the Kenwood Center Building I believe) and United Dairy Farmers was on the first floor. If I had a cavity filled, Mom would stop at UDF on the way out to buy me a milkshake. Bittersweet memories.

Day 61 - A Lot of Plans? by AE Stagge

Walk south on Montgomery Road from Kenwood Road and you'll notice a large empty lot of prime real estate. Until a few years ago there were small office buildings along the street and apartment buildings behind them. Locals will remember "7777".

I've heard this property is now owned by the township. I wonder what the plans are for development.

Day 60 - Shuttered Business by AE Stagge

This storefront is just a stone's throw from the intersection featured this week, on the road with the new median.

On day 20 you saw Dodd Camera, one of the few surviving camera stores in Greater Cincinnati. Cord Camera in one that did not make it. Just a few years ago Cord Camera was one of three places to buy photography gear in Kenwood. Now there are maybe three places in the whole region. The times, they are a changing.

Day 59 - Median Value by AE Stagge

Construction was completed this year on improvements to Kenwood Road between Montgomery and Euclid. The plan included putting utilities underground (looks nice) and adding a median to make traffic flow more smoothly. Unfortunately, traffic is flowing right past many businesses on the street because customers cannot turn left into their parking lots.

Day 58 - Let's Make A Trade Joe by AE Stagge

This specialty grocery store is just a short walk from the Kenwood and Montgomery Roads intersection. Famous for its "Two Buck Chuck" wine selection, Trader Joe's has hundreds of stores in the U.S. and has been very popular since it arrived in Kenwood.

I'm not a regular, but I've been here, and it is quite the shopping experience. By the way, Two Buck Chuck has been given a raise.

Day 57 - Kenwood Corner Building by AE Stagge

On the fourth corner of Kenwood at Montgomery, not shown in the photo yesterday, is the Kenwood Corner Building. This is one of the oldest buildings left in the area, and was built in 1964 according to the Hamilton County Auditors Office. I took yesterday's photo from the second floor balcony.

On this corner you can buy radio-controlled cars, have your tennis racket re-strung, have your eyeglasses repaired, enjoy an adult beverage, and more.

Day 54 - School House Rock by AE Stagge

Ok, maybe it doesn't rock, but I think this old school house on School Road is interesting and I would like to know more about it.

It seems likely this building that first opened 135 years ago has something to do with the name of the road. I have not been able to locate any information online, but I would love to see and photograph the inside.

Day 52 - On The Bubble by AE Stagge

Here's a different view of the children's play area at the Schuler Sports Complex. Much of the equipment is the standard playground fare, but there is also a mini rock climbing wall! I didn't have that when I was a kid.

Day 50 - Schuler Sports Complex by AE Stagge

Named for the late Bob Schuler, former township trustee and Ohio state representative, this complex sits behind and beside Fire Station 93 on Deerfield Road. Accommodations include a beautiful baseball field with grass infield, soccer fields, children's play area and meeting space. Very nice. More photos to come.

Day 49 - Station 93 (North Fire Station) by AE Stagge

This beautiful facility on Deerfield Road is one of two fire stations in Sycamore Township.  The firefighters here cover the north part of the township. We'll see the south station in the future.  This station was built in 2009 to replace a smaller facility a short distance away. I had not seen it except from the highway, until I made the trip to take a photo for this project.

Nice job STFD and township administrators. I'm sure it is as effective as it is attractive.

Day 48 - The Kenwood Towne Centre by AE Stagge

This well-known regional shopping mall is in Kenwood, in the south end of Sycamore Township. With 180 stores and over a million square feet of retail space,  Kenwood Towne Centre is the home of such giants as Nordstrom, Apple and Macy's

It opened in 1987 on the site of the original Kenwood Plaza, which I remember well. That's where I shopped for toys as a kid, and where I first saw a video-tape rental store. Showing my age I guess.

Day 47 - The Towers of Kenwood by AE Stagge

Formerly known as the Bank One Tower, this office building now carries the Chase Bank name, and is much larger than it looks from this vantage point. We'll get different views in the future.

Many tenants occupy this seven story class A office space including Clear Channel Communications which operates six popular radio stations in Cincinnati.
