Look closely at the wall of gravel that falls from the machine to the surface. Fascinating, to me at least. I'm always trying to learn about how things are made.
Not shown in the photo is a caravan of roller machines that push the gravel into the tar to set it in place.
I understand this type of road surface is economical for lesser-traveled roads. I've read the gravel surface is becoming more popular.
